Module II: Assessment of Sensory Motor Problems in Asperger’s Syndrome: Issues Pertaining to Assessment, Assessment Process, Test Measures and Accommodations

Topic Description:

This module will discuss assessment of sensory and motor problems in people with Asperger’s. Case studies, exercises and charts will be provided to help the reader better understand the assessment process. This module is divided into three major sections : The first section is about various issues pertaining to assessment of sensory and motor problems, such as identification in a public school setting, early intervention and differences between school and private assessments. The second section is about the specifics of the assessment process, such as identification, referral, assessment procedures and program planning. The third section discusses testing measures and testing methods. Included is a discussion of formal and informal test measures, as well as testing accommodations one might use with a person with Asperger’s Syndrome.

Objectives:

Learner will :

  1. Be better able to understand the importance of a comprehensive assessment of sensory and motor problems
  2. Have access to methods and tools in order to help with early identification of sensory and motor problems.
  3. Be able to make knowledgeable and up to date decisions before initiating an assessment of sensory and motor problems for an individual with Asperger’s Syndrome
